Patrons rave about the freshness of the ingredients, particularly the steamed prawns and Cantonese-style perch, which boasts a clean flavor paired with rich gravy.
While the food earns high marks for taste and generous portions, some reviews point out service hiccups, like delayed dishes and inconsistently carbonated beverages. Reviews for 9 Seafood Restaurant (新竺海鮮酒家)
Review highlights
Based on 234 reviews9 Seafood Restaurant (新竺海鮮酒家) is recognized for its authentic Cantonese and fresh live seafood offerings, with many patrons highlighting the quality of dishes like steamed prawns, live fish, and crab. The restaurant’s large, clean space accommodates ample seating, making it a popular choice for family gatherings and special occasions, although this sometimes contributes to a noisy environment. Service is generally attentive and friendly, including considerate support for non-Chinese speakers. While food portions are generous and flavors well-received, some guests note occasional delays in dish preparation and inconsistent beverage quality. Parking can be challenging, but the overall dining experience is considered good value for those seeking traditional Cantonese seafood cuisine in Sunnybank Hills.
First of all, good luck getting parking. But if you succeed, there’s plenty of tables. Place feels like Landmark in vibe, with similar dishes and prices. Service is very attentive for a Chinese Restaurant. The food was really good. I’d give it 4 stars cause - the jug of coke was really flat (despite costing $12) - the steam barramundi took way too long to cook and come out. We finished all the other dishes by the time the fish arrived! But otherwise the other dishes pictures were nice Good place for groups to eat, probably not one for just for a meal for 2.
A large Chinese restaurant with ample seating available for weekend dinner walk-ins. The food portions are generous and the taste is above average. Highly recommend for dinner, but strongly discourage breakfast, especially the braised noodle and satay beef noodle dishes. The environment is quite noisy due to frequent large family gatherings, so you almost have to shout to talk to your friend next to you. Be careful of street parking as the free onsite car park is always full, and parking on the grass area just outside the car park may result in a fine.
7.2.2025 While the Cantonese cuisine here is good, the live seafood (fish, crabs and lobster) is excellent. Staff are always trying their best and are helpful with the Menu.
Great place to have celebrated CNY at with lion dance shows. Good food and friendly service. The fresh steamed prawns were certainly fresh and delicious. The pigeon was also very solid, done quite well. Would definitely consider coming back for family dinners
- Canto style perch had clean flavour and was accompanied nicely by rich savoury gravy. At time of review I thought it was good value. - Staff welcoming to non chinese speakers. - Clean restaurant space, did not use toilet there
Ordered a takeaway feast during one of the lockdown periods a few months ago: * ginger and shallot lobster with noodles, $99 * 4 treasure roast claypot dish, $22.80 - with BBQ pork, roast duck, roast pork, chicken, and rice * 3 free serves of ice lemon honey drink - 1 came with the roast dish, and 2 more were for spending over $60 I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve explicitly ordered lobster - my previous experiences are mostly from Chinese wedding dinner banquets or meals where I’m not deciding the menu. We were told this lobster comes with around 800g of lobster, and we thoroughly enjoyed working our way through it More satisfying than eating crabs… pity it’s also a lot more expensive!
